Rocca di Imola

Imola area

East of the city of Bologna where Emilia borders on Romagna, lies Imola.
Today, the city of Imola is appreciated throughout the world for its mechanical and automotive traditions. The Enzo and Dino Ferrari Autodrome still hosts important international and domestic motoring events. It is the foremost and most immediately recognizable excellence this territory has to offer.
There are many sites to visit in this area that are interesting from the historical and artistic point of view, starting with Imola itself with its Rocca Sforzesca , the Museum pole. Then continue onwards to the medieval village of Dozza wrapped in its fortified town walls and dominated by the Rocca. Then there’s Castel San Pietro Terme, the Alidosi bridge at Castel del Rio.

You can discover the naturalistic wonders around Imola by bike, from the Vena del Gesso Romagnola to the Santerno River and Sillaro River natural parks; or relax in the Thermal Spas or Golf courses in Castel San Pietro.

Many the food specialties like Castel del Rio chestnuts, an IGP product that is celebrated with a long festival every year in the month of October; and the Colli di Imola wines. The basement floor of the Rocca in Dozza houses a Regional Wine Cellar.

Besides the events of the Enzo e Dino Ferrari Autodrome racetrack schedule that reach their peak in the Formula 1 GP, other international events keep the area lively. Some examples are the Imola in Music Festival, the Imola Baccanale and the Muro Dipinto Biennale that each september of odd-numbered years turns the village of Dozza into an open-air artistic laboratory.
