Sport & Motors

“In the region Emilia there’s always a good reason to experience products with ‘some oil’” Mauro Forghieri (former technical director of the Scuderia Ferrari).

The Bolognese territory has long been defined “the land of motors” by virtue of the international museums, racetracks and renowned companies operating in the so–named Motor Valley. However, alongside the fever for the automotive industry, Bologna is also distinguished by a great passion for basketball, football and all kinds of sport, particularly outdoor ones. The structure of the city itself, with its pedestrian and cycling trails, first and foremost the porticoes of San Luca, seems to respond to this rooted trend.

Sport & motors in the Bologna area

Sport and Motors in Bologna have gone hand in hand for ages enriching the city territory with history and adrenaline. The 50 square km of the Motor Valley, from Bologna to Imola, encapsulate every legend and every myth of the motorsport industry. Undisputed leaders of such a deeply rooted historical tradition are the Ducati Museum in Bologna, the Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum in the plain and the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. When it comes to sport, conversely, symbolic locations as the Renato dall’Ara Stadium, home of the Bologna Football Club since 1909, the Paladozza, regularly hosting basketball matches and other kinds of events, and the Arcoveggio Racecourse, operative since the 30’s, are worth mentioning.
