The Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Autodrome in Imola is one of the most important racing circuits in Italy and has hosted motor-racing events such as the Formula One San Marino Grand Prix and the Formula 3000 World Championships. The Italian Grand Prix of the Superbike World Championships and the Italian Touring Car Championships still take place here.
Inaugurated in 1953, it hosted its first Formula One race in 1963, the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix in 1969 and the 51st Italian Grand Prix in 1980. Drivers including Ayrton Senna have also raced on this track, to whom a statue was erected in 1997.
In addition to the races, the racing track is used for popular events such as the Mostra Scambio - the leading event in Italy for car, motorbike, accessory and vintage spare parts - concerts and presentations of new car and motorbike models. What is more, as of 2014, it is possible to visit the “Checco Costa” museum, an exhibition space dedicated to motor-cars located inside the ‘Autodromo’.
