Bologna
Together with Via Rizzoli, Via Ugo Bassi occupies a portion of the ancient Roman main road ax, namely the urban stretch running in the direction west-east of the Via Emilia (189 BC). The present appearance of the street dates back to the interventions between the two World Wars and is a typical example of the Fascist city planning. . Named after the martyred patriot, Ugo Bassi (1874), whose bronze statue by C.Parmeggiani (XIXth century) is in the middle of the street, the road had several names in relation to the activities that took place there in the course of time. Here the best hotels and inns in the city were located. © Foto by Giovanni Zampiga
