Today the Museum boasts an interesting display of scientific and educational material that includes skulls and skeletons belonging to ancient Italian populations and from various epochs (from the Neolithic Era to the 18th century); plaster casts of the remains of the skeletons of primates and primitive man illustrating the fundamental stages in the evolutionary process of Man; handmade objects discovered both in Italy and in other European countries showing the development of Prehistoric cultures from early Palaeolithic to Neolithic times.
One of the most recent acquisitions is a "yurta", a typical mobile dwelling complete with its furnishings, used by the nomadic populations of Kazakistan. The description is taken from SMA - University Museum System Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. The museum of Anthropology is part of Sistema Museale d'Ateneo Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna - SMA.
