This time, Paolo Gotti measures himself with the history, with a long past in terms of time and the space, returned by a photo-series of many different aspects of the realities of what China was, more than fourty years ago.
In July 1978, the photographer joins an inquiry travel organized by the political and cultural Institute Edizioni Oriente in Milan for a near perspective on the chinese society, for its common interest like education, health, justice and industry. This reportage will be published by the magazine quarter Vento dell'Est the next year.
The agency travels in the north part of the country, leaving the capital Beijing for visiting the cities of Dalian, Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin and the oil wells in Daqing, until the ends with Manchuria. The main purpose of the travel was to understand what was happening and the reasons of the inversion of course that would have brought a new position to the country on the international chessboard.
