Bologna Estate 2026: the city comes alive with culture, events and performances all summer long
From May 15 to September 27, 2026, Bologna transforms into a vast open-air stage with Bologna Estate, the summer programme promoted by the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City. An unmissable opportunity to experience the city through concerts, open-air cinema, theatre performances, exhibitions, talks, festivals and activities for all ages, in the most evocative locations of the city centre and neighbourhoods.
With 424 mostly free and widespread events, Bologna Estate 2026 invites locals and visitors to discover a summer full of creative energy, culture, social life and entertainment.
Everyday places – parks, squares, museums and public spaces – become the protagonists of an urban journey involving the entire metropolitan area.

Special openings until midnight for the Tassinari Clò Library, which, in synergy with the initiatives of the Night Plan, will remain open from 7:00 PM to midnight every Wednesday evening from May 20 to July 29 in the beautiful setting of the Villa Spada park. The extended hours will offer a cool and comfortable space for the many visitors of the library and the park, especially university students looking to use the study room during the summer exam session, including in the evening hours.
The new extended Wednesday openings will also feature Metti una sera in biblioteca (“Spend an Evening at the Library”), a series of events of various kinds, including evening book presentations.
