From September 26, 2024 to February 16, 2025, Palazzo Pallavicini in Bologna will host an exhibition dedicated to the photography of Tina Modotti, a leading figure in photography and political activism in the first half of the 20th century.
The exhibition, curated by Francesca Bogliolo, aims to explore the life of this courageous and nonconformist woman through a selection of about one hundred works and precious documents. Modotti was able to interpret the sentiment of her time, creating a poetics of truth that carries human values capable of transcending the limits of space and time.
The exhibition, divided into six sections, highlights Modotti's ability to combine art and activism, with a focus on her portraits and photographs of life and revolution. The exhibition also includes a selection of Modotti's portraits taken by Edward Weston, testifying to her lasting impact and the mysterious appeal of her art.
