The exhibition Saul Leiter. A Window Dotted with Raindrops is being held at Palazzo Pallavicini in Bologna from 5 March to 19 July 2026 and is curated by Anne Morin.
The exhibition features 126 black-and-white photographs, 40 colour photographs, 42 paintings and archival materials, including vintage magazines and a film document.
Leiter recounted New York in the second half of the 20th century with a lyrical and intimate gaze, transforming everyday scenes into poetic images made up of reflections, rain and urban fragments. He was one of the pioneers of the artistic use of colour in photography, as well as working in the fashion world for magazines such as Harper's Bazaar.
The exhibition also highlights his side as a painter and offers an immersive setting that invites the public to experience his way of observing and photographing.
The exhibition also includes works by artist Ernesto Anderle, author of the illustrated project Roby il pettirosso (Roby the Robin), inspired by Leiter's life and thought.
