Una notte a Malaga

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 9:00 PM at the Teatro Mazzacorati 1763, following Balaklava and La stanza dei trionfi, “Una notte a Malaga” takes the stage, the third and final episode of this trilogy.

Three characters appear on stage: Countess Ekaterina Pavlova, the maid Ivanka Ivanovicka, and General Topinovich. The now-upended lives of the three characters meet for the last time in a series of intrigues and feral passions. Seventeen years after their last encounter, the souls of Countess Pavlova and Ivanka have hardened and closed themselves off to the gentler and nobler human relationships. Countess Pavlova still lives on her love for Topinovich, but no longer harbors hope of receiving the affection she once desired. Topinovich has withdrawn to a convent in Malaga not out of vocation, but in order to more freely organize his shady dealings. With base cynicism and criminal cunning, he continues to exploit his docile countess to carry out a mad scheme. Ivanka Ivanovicka, having failed in every attempt to make herself important within noble circles, becomes a Prussian spy to give an extreme meaning to her dull and empty life.
