From Tuesday, November 18 to Sunday, November 23, 2025, the Teatro Ebe Stignani in Imola presents Amadeus – Salieri and Mozart: An Apologue on Envy and Admiration for Genius.
Vienna, 1823. Antonio Salieri was once a pious and generous man, a respected and celebrated musician. Now old, forgotten, and nearing death, he relives the story of his tragic relationship with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — Ama-deus, “he who loves God and is loved by God” — which ended with the death of the young, reckless, irreverent, yet brilliant composer thirty years earlier.
Legend, born from gossip, claims that Salieri poisoned Mozart out of envy. Yet Salieri — mediocre both in life and in malice — never actually poisoned him; his wickedness never reached that extreme. Still, he will do everything to make everyone believe he did, so that his name might forever be linked to Mozart’s, and that this crime he never committed might grant him immortality.
