Updated on 03 June 2025 From Bologna Welcome

This June, the PalaDozza in Bologna will host one of the rounds of EuroBasket 2025, the continental women's basketball championship. From 18 to 21 June 2025, Italy will face Slovenia, Serbia and Lithuania. Here are 5 reasons to come and cheer on the athletes under the Two Towers:

  1. Bologna worth a visit
  2. Bologna, city of sport
  3. PalaDozza, a historical arena
  4. EuroBasket25, a FIBA competition
  5. Italy and the other teams in the group

1. Bologna worth a visit

Coming to watch EuroBasket25 is an excellent opportunity to visit the city.

Start with this itinerary in the historical centre and don't miss a visit to San Luca. Or take part in a unique experience by choosing from the many available.

2. Bologna, city of sport

In addition to its monumental and architectural beauty, Bologna is a city that thrives on sport. Football of course, but also baseball, cycling, motor sports and more. Discover the sporty side of Bologna here and let yourself be carried away.

3. PalaDozza, a historical arena

Watching games at the PalaDozza will be a thrill. Called the "little Madison" because of its similarity to New York's Madison Square Garden, it was inaugurated by the international basketball match Italy-Poland 70-54 on 12 September 1956. Since then it became the home of basketball with Virtus and Fortitudo. From any position the view of the court is perfect, so you can enjoy every action at its best.

4. EuroBasket25, a FIBA competition

This competion is no ordinary friendlies: it is the top FIBA competition at European level, a continent that boasts some of the strongest teams in the world and a guaranteed level of entertainment. The event will be hosted simultaneously in 4 countries, with one qualifying round per state: Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece.

In short, if you love basketball at the highest level, this competition will not disappoint.

5. Italy and the other teams in the group

Serbia, Slovenia and Lithuania: big names on the European basketball scene. The national teams that will challenge Italy are all among the top 50 in the world rankings, guaranteeing matches of absolute level, often very balanced and point-to-point. They will certainly be fiery matches, also thanks to the warm support of the Italian and Bolognese supporters.
