The museum is located in the city center, within the Cultural Park of San Pietro in Casale, and was housed inside the house, a portion of a former barn, the artist Guido Frabboni (1926-1994).
The redesigned spaces are developed on three levels. On the ground floor the rooms are intended for temporary exhibitions while the first floor houses the permanent archaeological section "Roman Plain. Villa Vicus Via" ("Pianura romana. Villa Vicus Via"), dedicated to the numerous archaeological remains of Roman times, in particular of the Augustan period, found in the area. At the center of the exhibition the town of Maccaretolo, with its exceptional findings, but also rustic villas and agricultural settlements of the time; among the significant findings in the area, stand out the trousseau of the gothic tombs from the excavations carried out at the Interporto and the bentivolesche majolica, a photograph of the local Renaissance history. On the top floor there are the permanent sections of the city museum dedicated to Natale Guido Frabboni and Raimondo Rimondi.
