Most of the material on display comes from the collection of Prof. Alessandrini, who directed the museum from 1819 to 1861. The specimens for injection into the circulatory system of mammals and the histological specimens of nerve endings are particularly rare as well as being brilliantly clever.
These rooms also contain a display of the instruments used for these preparations: microscopes, microtomes and syringes in various sizes. One particular special section of the Museum allows visitors to "touch" some of the exhibits on display, which are also described in "Braille".
The description is taken from SMA - University Museum System Alma Mater Studiorum. University of Bologna The museum is part of SMA - Sistema Museale d'Ateneo Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna.
