Casa Morandi, built in the late 1950s, is now a small museum that preserves intact the rooms and memories of the Morandi family. Donated to the Grizzana Municipality by Maria Teresa Morandi, Giorgio Morandi's younger sister, the house is kept as it was, open to visitors to offer an authentic experience: from the clothes in the wardrobes to the devotional images on the walls, from the colour tubes to the jugs and jars.
Designed on two floors, taking inspiration from the house opposite, Casa Veggetti - where the Morandi family lived from 1913 onwards - the house overlooks a landscape beloved by the artist: from its interior one can see the haylofts of Campiaro and the woods, places Giorgio Morandi loved to paint. The land on which it stands was acquired in the late 1950s for this very reason, to be close to the landscape that so influenced his art.
