Bologna
As the most ancient European Athenaeum and home of the first student universitates in the world, Bologna’s Alma Mater is promoting a new cultural initiative to increase public wareness and research into student life, and has created a museum entirely devoted to the figure of the student over the centuries, both within the university context and in society as a whole. The exhibition is divided into five sections summarising the evolution of students over time. MeuS contains a display of 23 showcases, 18 monitors, about ten exhibited paintings, many drawings, sculptures, objects, books, illuminated manuscripts, and reconstructions of various environments, allowing the visitor to explore different aspects and events in the history of student life. You can also read approximately 200 periodicals and individual publications, consult a collection of ancient student posters from various countries, access a basic database containing the names of over four hundred thousand students who graduated from Bologna University between 1380 and 2005, follow the spread of universities over Europe during the first centuries of university history, and much more…
