Bologna
Exhibition prolonged to March 17th. The rearrangement of a portion of the Collezioni Comunali d’Arte, necessitated by work at Palazzo d’Accursio, has been turned into an opportunity for a new juxtaposition of the museum’s works. By means of subjects dear to the figurative art of centuries past, the collection shows how the use of human figures in Western art changed between the thirteenth and eighteenth centuries to narrate both the essence of the divine and daily life and sentiment. The exhibition alternates rooms given over to these two aspects, evidencing the museum’s rich collection of medieval sculpture and painting, the precious panels of Francesco Francia, Amico Aspertini and Luca Signorelli, the canvases of Prospero Fontana, Ludovico Carracci, Guido Cagnacci, Donato Creti, Gaetano Gandolfi and Pelagio Palagi.
