Description
A guided walk to discover a fortress with four millennia of history: from a prehistoric settlement to a Roman outpost, later a Lombard stronghold, and eventually a 16th-century Este fortress.
The Fortress of Sestola is the historical, cultural, and tourist symbol of the town and hosts a rich and fascinating museum complex. The visit includes permanent and temporary exhibitions: the Museum of Mountain Civilization, the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, the “Room of Memories” dedicated to local soprano Teresina Burchi in Reiter, the 15th-century fresco cycle of St. John the Baptist, “The Fortress in Play” for children, and finally, the climb to the Panoramic Tower offering breathtaking views of the town and surrounding landscape.
