Bologna at its very best
The cemetery is the ideal place to retrace the stories, both big and small, of late 19th-century Bologna. A stroll admiring marble masterpieces, discovering famous or forgotten artists, glorious events or curious stories, such as the terrible death – amidst excruciating pain – of Luigi Serra in the summer of 1888. All that remains of him, apart from his masterpieces, is his beautiful tomb, designed by Alfredo Tartarini.
