General description
Trivio di Porta Ravegnana, Bologna, late 13th century: there are still houses to be demolished in the middle of the square and at the base of the Two Towers, which do not stand alone against the city skyline, but are surrounded by almost 90 towers and tower houses, belonging to the quarrelsome noble families of Bologna, who had been engaged for decades in fierce clashes between factions.
A stroll through medieval Bologna, still intact, with its houses, churches, inner courtyards, porticoes, shops, markets and narrow streets between Via Maggiore and Via Santo Stefano, surprisingly similar to today in so many ways.
