The Grand Départ of the 2024 Tour will be from Italy for the first time in history, and on 30 June the second stage is the Cesenatico - Bologna.
The prestigious French cycling race, the most important and followed worldwide, will bring the yellow caravan to the capital of Emilia for a stage that promises to be spectacular with no less than two passages on the San Luca climb. As in recent editions of the Giro dell'Emilia, the greatest cycling champions will compete on the fearsome slopes leading up to the Sanctuary, before swooping down into the city towards the expected arrival in the centre.
The yellow jersey, the pois (polka-dot King of Mountains) jersey and all the others in the peloton will enter the capital after setting off from Cesenatico - where there will be no shortage of tributes to Marco Pantani - and after passing, among others, on the legendary Gallisterna climb and inside the Imola Autodrome (already the protagonists of the 2020 World Road Championships). Shortly before arriving in the city for the grand finale of the stage, the riders will also pass through Val di Zena (Botteghino di Zocca) and Montecalvo.
Vingegard, Pogacar or perhaps some brave Italian cyclists, who will win at the finish in Bologna?
Here are the technical details of the stage:
