Seong-Jin Cho - Bologna Festival

The Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho could reminds us of Stanislav Bunin, they both won the Chopin Competition in Warsaw; the first one in 1985, the other one in 2015.

With the four Scherzi di Chopin there is indeed anything to joke about: for their emotional tone, size and technical commitment, they require much more than the elegance of phrasing and the spontaneous abandonment to the cantabile that the young Cho has been credited since his debut. That is even more true for Janáček's Sonata, the incandescent political martyrology of a revolution.
