We have all heard the cliché that "music is a universal language", but in the past musicians had to learn each other's systems - sounds, scales, harmonies, rhythms and structures - to collectively create together. But the world music of Jim and Eric does not concern the mutual learning of musical systems and the repeated tests to create coordinated expected results, but rather the acceptance and coexistence of the Other. There is no "compromise" in this meeting, every musician is able to be himself, with his own undiluted local influences, but with a fairly shared methodology that he can work in parallel.
