The event is a tribute to the poetic and musical work of the great singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini, created by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and born from an idea by composer and conductor Alessandro Nidi and Bologna-born journalist and actor Giorgio Comaschi.
Opera Guccini, running from 29 to 31 October 2026 at the Teatro Duse in Bologna, reinterprets some of the musician’s most famous songs in a lyrical-symphonic style – from Dio è morto to L'Avvelenata – performed by the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna conducted by Alessandro Nidi, who also created the arrangements.
The vocalists are opera singers Claudia Ceraulo, Michele Gianquinto and Simone Fenotti, young professionals trained at the Scuola dell’Opera who are part of the Career Development project of the TCBO Academy. Special guests also include guitarist Juan Carlos “Flaco” Biondini and saxophonist Antonio Marangolo. The musical performances alternate with narrative contributions by Giorgio Comaschi, who will guide the audience through anecdotes, amusing episodes and stories connected to the origins of the songs, including readings of some texts written especially for the occasion by Guccini himself.
This is an original production by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, with stage coordination by Gianni Marras, lighting design by Paolo Liaci and videos by Tommaso Arosio.
