On Sunday 18 October 2026, the Circolo della Musica in Bologna presents a concert by Tommaso Beniamino Caprioli, violin, and Alessandro Artese, piano, joint winners of the 1st absolute prize at the 10th A. Baldi Competition, category E.
The programme offers an intense journey through the violin and piano repertoire of the 19th and early 20th centuries, bringing together virtuosity, Romantic introspection and expressive exploration. The concert opens with Clara Schumann’s Three Romances op. 22, works of refined lyricism in which violin and piano engage in an intimate dialogue. These are followed by Eugène Ysaÿe’s Sonata No. 5 and Niccolò Paganini’s celebrated Caprice No. 24, two works that highlight the extraordinary technical and expressive possibilities of the solo violin. The piano section is dedicated to Sergei Rachmaninoff, with four Études-Tableaux op. 33 (Nos. 8, 3, 2 and 4), pieces characterised by great emotional intensity, richness of tone and virtuosity. The concert concludes with Robert Schumann’s Sonata No. 1 op. 105, a masterpiece of the Romantic chamber repertoire, in which violin and piano create an intense and passionate dialogue.
The programme thus combines famous works with repertoire of particular interest, highlighting the different personalities of the two young performers: Tommaso Beniamino Caprioli, a nineteen-year-old violinist trained at the Bologna Conservatory and the Imola Academy, already involved in important concert experiences, and Alessandro Artese, a twenty-four-year-old pianist, winner of numerous international competitions and guest of prestigious European concert halls and musical institutions.
