Oksana Lyniv - Gil Shaham | Sinfonica 2024

On this occasion, the Symphony Orchestra presents a wide-ranging program conducted by the Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv, accompanied by violinist Gil Shaham.

PROGRAM:

1. In una notte stellata - VI° concerto per sola orchestra - Guarnieri 

In the first part of the evening, the audience will embark on an emotional journey, thanks to the powerful expressiveness of the orchestral colors. The intensity of the instrumental sounds and the extraordinary expressive force of the voices come together to address significant civil themes. Guarnieri’s Sixth Concerto for Orchestra, titled In una notte stellata, was commissioned by the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna and is being performed here for the first time.

2. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, op. 35 - Korngold

A true masterpiece, Korngold’s Violin Concerto absorbs elements from his cinematic background and transforms them into a post-romantic and modernist musical language, creating a unique fusion of style and depth.

3. Symphony No. 6 in B minor, op. 74 "Pathétique" - Čajkovskij

Čajkovskij's famous Sixth Symphony continues to amaze and captivate audiences with its mysterious and moving pathos. Considered one of the most beautiful symphonies of all time, it retains its charm thanks to its emotional intensity and the depth of its melodies.
