On Sunday, June 8, 2025, the Bologna Respighi Festival kicks off with the inaugural concert, which again this year will be held in the evocative setting of Piazza Maggiore.
In the sign of the enhancement of young talents and new local musical realities, the concert will also be the occasion for the official debut of the new Luciano Pavarotti Foundation Orchestra, under the artistic direction of Matteo Parmeggiani. A project created to honor and pass on the great tenor's artistic and human legacy. In closing, a “surprise” is planned: a special tribute to Pavarotti performed by special guest Gianluca Terranova.
The musical program will open with Respighi's Ouverture Carnevalesca, followed by the symphonic poem Fountains of Rome. The rest of the evening will be a musical journey dedicated to dance, with some of the most celebrated pages of the choreographic repertoire: from Ravel's Bolero to de Falla's Fire Dance, via the Adagio from Chačaturjan's Spartacus, to the lively and engaging rhythms of Márquez's Danzón No. 2, between sensuality, melancholy and joyful lightness.
