Thursday October 15, at 8:30 PM, the Oratorio San Filippo Neri hosts in concert the Quartetto K: a journey through Mitteleuropa, the Balkans, and klezmer.
When borders change, music preserves what remains: memories, languages, migrations, identities. For over twenty years, Quartetto K has traveled across Central, Balkan, and Eastern Europe with original arrangements, highlighting a sonic ethos born from ethnic diversity and the coexistence of sacred and secular traditions.
The program explores the Hungarian repertoire dominated by the violin, Romanian dances, and the Russian tradition, leading to a natural destination in Ashkenazi klezmer, a transnational language capable of absorbing diverse styles. At its core is an aesthetic that imitates the human voice, alternating elegiac pathos with dance-like momentum.
