DaDgad is a musical group named after a guitar tuning commonly used in Irish music. It was in this musical world that the members first met and began playing together, blending classical training with frequent excursions into jazz, blues, soul and R&B in a new and highly personal project. Their music is equally suited to dancing and listening, telling stories and transporting audiences to real or imagined distant places. All compositions are conceived, written and arranged by Lippo, who grew up listening to the jazz of Cole Porter, Nina Simone and Glenn Miller, as well as the music of Ravel, Gershwin and Claude Bolling. He spends much of his time in the woods, returning with baskets full of new musical ideas. Their music effortlessly accompanies dance evenings, town festivals, Irish sessions, civil and pagan weddings, funerals, celebrations, football World Cups, eclipses, rare dates in the calendars of lost civilizations, solstices, equinoxes and seasonal herb-gathering excursions.
