At the origin of music is the voice: breath that becomes thought and sign. In Songs for Peace and Light, the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor spans five centuries of vocal music, intertwining Renaissance polyphony and contemporary works around two key words: peace and light.

The program combines the purity of tradition (from Gregorian chant to Palestrina, Rore, and Tallis) with modern and meditative perspectives (Hersant, Harvey, Ligeti), culminating in multi-voice choral architectures that amplify a sense of space and mystery. An itinerary that brings together faith and reason, history and the present, in choral sound as a shared experience.
