This year marks a special anniversary: 70 years since the first edition of a festival that represents the roots, history and identity of our territory.
The Marrone di Castel del Rio PGI is a fruit that has its origins in the Middle Ages, when chestnut groves were called ‘bread trees’ because of their importance in the diet.
Over the centuries, chestnut cultivation has sustained the economic life of the valley, leading to the establishment of the Chestnut Growers' Consortium in 1985. Today, this unique product is PGI certified and is the symbol of a tradition that continues to thrive thanks to our festival.
Food stands open only for LUNCH every Sunday in October.
In the square, you will find the Casetta dei Dolci (Sweet House), the traditional market, Birra di Marroni (Chestnut Beer), and the legendary Bruciati (roasted chestnuts) tossed in large pans by our Marronai, guardians of a centuries-old tradition.
Major musical events scheduled:
- 12 October → Suoni e Voci della Terra Festival: “From the land to the sea - Tribute to Lucio Dalla”
- 19 October → Stop on the regional tour “E-Risalutami tuo fratello 2025” with Marco Ligabue and Andrea Barbi
- 26 October → Musical surprise coming soon
