The exhibition Uno Bianca. Memories from a Wounded City opens on 19 November at 5:00 p.m. - in the Sala d’Ercole at Palazzo d’Accursio - and will remain open to visitors until the end of the month. It is an exhibition itinerary that reconstructs the history of the Uno Bianca Gang through an organic map of testimonies, documents, and memories from civil society. The exhibition offers an in-depth look at one of the most dramatic periods for Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region, recounting events, historical context, and social impact.
Through articles, photographs, newspapers, and interviews, visitors retrace the criminal acts carried out by the gang, made up largely of police officers: 23 deaths, 114 injured, and 102 criminal actions committed between Bologna, Romagna, and Pesaro from 1987 to 1994. It is a path that helps the public understand the scale of seven and a half years that deeply marked the area.
The exhibition design is curated by Irene Caperna, Chiara Curtale, Annalisa Onorati, Liu Wen, Hu Xinyi, and Deng Hezhehong, students in the Scenography and Exhibition Space Design program at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. The video interviews are produced by Paolo Pontivi from the Journalism Master’s Program at the University of Bologna, while the sound design by Paola Samoggia recreates the atmosphere of the years in which the gang operated—through distorted police radio sounds, office noises, modem transmissions, and the “lament” of ambulances blending with distant strings.
The exhibition is part of the program “Uno Bianca per chi l'ha vista. Una storia per chi non c'era” (“Uno Bianca for those who saw it. A story for those who weren’t there”), a project promoted by the Uno Bianca Victims’ Association with artistic direction by Maurizio Matrone.
