The exhibition The Assyrians in the Shadow of the Two Towers. An inscribed brick from the ziggurat of Kalkhu in Iraq and the excavations of the Iraqi-Italian Archaeological Mission in Nineveh is promoted by Musei Civici d'Arte Antica and King Abdulaziz Chair for Islamic Studies | Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna Iraqi-Italian Archaeological Mission in Nineveh, with the scientific curatorship of Nicolò Marchetti and the patronage of the Embassy of Iraq in Italy and the Embassy of Italy in Iraq.
The aim of the exhibition is to communicate, through a new formula, historical contents related to the Neo-Assyrian empire (Mesopotamia, 9th-7th centuries B.C.), recounting some of the specificities and challenges of the ongoing Italian scientific collaboration and cooperation with Iraq and the city of Mosul in particular. The objects are presented through their 3D printed digital models, according to a new sustainable exhibition concept.
