After the hype at the Villa Reale in Monza, the exhibition "Sorcery. Iconography, Facts and Scandals on the Subversives of History" arrives in Bologna, from Feb. 17 to June 16, 2024, at Palazzo Pallavicini. Conceived and produced by Vertigo Syndrome and curated by playwright Luca Scarlini, the exhibition offers in this new edition great novelties, surprises and never-before-seen objects and is to be considered like a whole a new exhibition.
In addition to Guglielmo Invernizzi's collection of prints and engravings, there are many new works of art from private collections, both Italian and foreign, and new objects related to the world of witchcraft, lent by the legendary Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Cornwall, and by the Museum of Civilizations in Rome, which is exhibiting, for the first time, its extraordinary collection of 19th-century silver amulets, real jewels, used by witches or, more often, against them.
Following an esoteric path through nine themed rooms, visitors will be invited to discover the ancient religion of Diana, the Great Mother, by experiencing its history, sites and rituals. The exhibition will open by letting visitors experience firsthand, the suggestion and gravity of a real witchcraft trial held in a court of the Inquisition in 1539 and will close, after the long walk from room to room, with the experience of writing on a real Book of Shadows where they can enclose and share their personal spells.
