Cuoghi Corsello. Tra le nuvole (Among the clouds)

On Thursday 15 October 2026, at 6:00 pm, Cuoghi Corsello. Tra le nuvole, curated by Lorenzo Balbi and Fulvio Chimento, opens at MAMbo.

Tra le nuvole is the solo exhibition that MAMbo dedicates to the duo Cuoghi Corsello on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the artistic partnership between Monica Cuoghi (Mantua, 1965) and Claudio Corsello (Bologna, 1964), which began in Bologna in 1986.
The project transforms the museum’s Sala delle Ciminiere through a new site-specific installation.

Engaging with the museum’s architectural volumes, the two Bologna-based artists have created an exhibition project that evokes the ghostly presence of Quadrupede, one of their most iconic characters, which since 1994 has taken shape through drawing, comics and sculpture, inhabiting public spaces and occupied factories.
Two versions of Quadrupede will transform the museum itself. Through an act of visual reappropriation, Cuoghi Corsello will alter the usual way visitors move through the exhibition space, inviting them into a dreamlike and rarefied environment.

This approach continues the work developed by the artists over many years of intense activity in Bologna and in several other Italian cities. Through graffiti, neon sculptures, installations, music and performances, Cuoghi Corsello have transformed urban spaces and museums with a wide range of visionary and metamorphic creatures, unexpectedly reshaping their atmospheres and relational possibilities.

Tra le nuvole unfolds as a two-act exhibition, with two distinct but conceptually connected phases taking place several weeks apart and ultimately forming a single exhibition experience.

Following the October opening, in December 2026 the exhibition will be expanded with a selection of paintings made with spray paint on carpet and treated bed sheets. Produced between 2001 and 2021, these works depict a wide range of figures, bodies and settings and will be distributed throughout the exhibition space in dialogue with the environmental installation.

The two phases of the exhibition will radically transform both the space and the way it is experienced, proposing new uses and meanings through an open-ended narrative populated by images, figures and presences.

The exhibition will remain open until 10 January 2027, in accordance with MAMbo’s opening hours.
