Original Vintage Photographs from Italian Pop Cinema of the 1960s and 1970s. Chapter 2

The exhibition Sempre più CULTISSIMI - MITISSIMI - BELLISSIMI, a natural continuation of the exhibition CULTISSIMI - MITISSIMI - BELLISSIMI presented at Spazio e Immagini in 2020, features from June 17 to July 10, 2026 a selection of 30 rare original still photographs from Italian Pop Cinema of the 1960s and 1970s, drawn from a larger collection of vintage prints held by the gallery.

Curated by Matteo Giacomelli, the exhibition highlights the quality of film still photography through the work of photographers such as Umberto Montiroli, Angelo Pennoni and other professionals active in genre cinema and Italian comedy during the 1960s and 1970s.

Italian Pop Cinema of this period is notable for its remarkable variety of genres and its spirit of experimentation.

These films range from science fiction to erotic cinema, from Boccaccio-inspired comedies to historical dramas, while also exploring themes related to the critique of the bourgeois family and changing attitudes towards sexuality. Through a blend of provocation, irony and humour, they addressed subjects that had long remained outside mainstream cinema.
