From May 14 to October 13, 2025, the Museo Civico Archeologico, part of the Bologna Civic Museums Sector, will host Portrait of a Woman. Photographs by Maria Paola Landini, an investigation that weaves together photography, archaeology, and anthropological reflection to reconstruct a visual genealogy of the feminine.
The exhibition is a visual investigation of how femininity has been represented over time. The selected images—137 photographs chosen from over 100,000 in Maria Paola Landini’s archive, taken over a span of 50 years—engage in dialogue with the iconography of the past, placing women at the center through their daily gestures, living spaces, and bodily postures.
The exhibition project, conceived and curated by Serendippo APS, is realized in collaboration with the Museo Civico Archeologico of Bologna.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition, a public program of events will be offered, including talks, guided tours, lectures, and performances, designed as an extension of the visual narrative and as a space for interdisciplinary dialogue.
