Nature Posed. The Seasons of Wolfango

To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bolognese artist Wolfango, Imola Musei presents the exhibition Still Nature. Wolfango's Seasons, curated by Alighiera Peretti Poggi and Oriana Orsi.

The exhibition is part of the metropolitan programme 100 Wolfango – Wolfango 100, a large-scale project running for 500 days across museums and cultural venues throughout the Metropolitan City of Bologna, celebrating the artist's multifaceted personality and his 80-year career.

The exhibition will be open from July 17 to October 4, 2026, during the opening hours of the Museo San Domenico. Admission is included in the ticket for the Civic Collections and the Giuseppe Scarabelli Museum.

On display are four large-scale naturalistic panels created in the early 1990s, in which Wolfango interprets the theme of the seasons through flowers, fruit, leaves and small insects, drawing inspiration from the Baroque tradition of vanitas, which reflects on the transience of life. Alongside the four pastel works, visitors can also admire a selection of flower drawings, including a large peony that seems to bloom before the viewer's eyes, revealing the countless shades of a single delicate pink that Wolfango masterfully explores.

The exhibition is part of the Sere d'estate ai musei (Summer Evenings at the Museums) programme organised by Imola Musei, which until August 29 features exhibitions, talks, concerts and guided tours at the Museo San Domenico and Palazzo Tozzoni.
