Negation and Disenchantment – A Journey into the Contemporary Imagination of the Butterfly

BoA Spazio Arte is pleased to announce the opening of the new exhibition “Negation and Disenchantment – A Journey into the Contemporary Imagination of the Butterfly” by Opiemme and Defe, at Via Barberia 24/A in Bologna.

Fragile as a breath, powerful as a symbol, the butterfly weaves its way through this exhibition as both presence and metaphor, guiding the artists in a reflection on the relationship between humans and nature in a dialogue that bridges different styles and artistic approaches.

In a world shaken by a century of rapid environmental exploitation, the butterfly becomes an icon of inner transformation and adaptation for survival. The works on display – employing various techniques and installation formats – play with its lightness to reflect on the heaviness of our times and on our ever-changing identities. It is an observation of the transformations in our lives, caught between an analog past and a present immersed in a digital technological rush that uses (and exploits) the nature around it.

Here, the butterfly becomes a poetic and political device, putting concepts such as permanence and dissolution, beauty and fragility, mutation and resistance into tension. The exhibition presents itself as a visual and conceptual journey, an invitation to slow down, to closely observe what often goes unnoticed. Because within the fragility of a wing, an entire cosmology is hidden.
