Michelangelo Pistoletto. From Cittadellarte to Statodellarte

From 3 February to 3 June 2026, Palazzo Boncompagni presents the exhibition Michelangelo Pistoletto. From Cittadellarte to Statodellarte, curated by Silvia Evangelisti. The exhibition is dedicated to one of the leading figures of international contemporary art and represents a major cultural event within the Italian exhibition landscape.

The exhibition itinerary brings together historical works and recent projects, spanning more than sixty years of artistic research by Michelangelo Pistoletto. At the heart of the exhibition are the key themes of his work: the relationship between art, society, and politics, civic engagement, and the transformative role of art in the contemporary world.

The project is part of the relationship initiated in 2021 between Michelangelo Pistoletto and Palazzo Boncompagni, on the occasion of the exhibition Gregory XIII and Michelangelo Pistoletto. From the Renaissance to Rebirth, which marked the opening of the Palazzo to the city and the launch of a programme dedicated to contemporary art.

With this exhibition, Palazzo Boncompagni hosts not only a retrospective, but presents itself as an active cultural platform, capable of fostering dialogue between art, audiences, and contemporary debate. The exhibition is accompanied by a programme of talks, in-depth discussions, and activities developed throughout the entire duration of the event, reinforcing the Palazzo’s role as a vibrant space for exchange and cultural reflection.
