On the occasion of the 550th anniversary of the birth of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564), on 14 November 2025, the exhibition Michelangelo and Bologna will open to the public in the historic rooms of Palazzo Fava, an important exhibition project that can be visited until 15 February 2026.
The exhibition offers an original journey that explores the link between Michelangelo Buonarroti and the city of Bologna, with particular attention to his stays in Bologna and the artistic and cultural context in which he was trained in his younger years.
The narrative unfolds through a journey that combines original works, historical casts, drawings, antique books and archival documents, offering a broad but analytical look at the evolution of Michelangelo's genius.
The exhibition project, which is further enriched by the presence of works by other great protagonists of the period, including Ercole de' Roberti, Francesco Francia, Lorenzo Costa and Amico Aspertini, is a true choral tribute to the Italian Renaissance and its most fertile artistic and cultural intertwining.
