La forma segreta del volo (The Secret Shape of Flight) - Naby

From 3 November to 6 December 2026, the Millenium Gallery “Palazzo Gnudi” in Bologna hosts La forma segreta del volo (The Secret Shape of Flight), a solo exhibition by Naby, curated by Carmen Lorenzetti.

The project brings together works created between 2019 and 2026 and offers a coherent reinterpretation of the Bologna-based artist’s most recent research, developed through cardboard collages, paper cut works and paper sculptures.

The exhibition begins with the Falene meccaniche, figures inspired by the silhouette of the F-117 stealth fighter which, through an imaginative process of transformation, take on the appearance of organisms suspended between machine, insect and mask.
From these enigmatic presences emerges a reflection on the relationship between identity, memory and change, in which forms do not retain a fixed meaning but are constantly transformed, shifting from symbols of threat to signs of protection, resilience and rebirth.
Alongside the moths appear key elements of Naby’s poetic universe, such as the horse, the artist’s alter ego and an image of freedom, momentum and vulnerability; the house, a symbolic place of belonging; and the female figure, which introduces a more autobiographical and narrative dimension. In the most recent works, women, horses and moths merge into hybrid figures that transform individual experiences into symbolic narratives with universal significance.
