Curated by Matteo Giacomelli
The exhibition Marcello Diotallevi - Francobolli d'Artista / Artist's Stamp Sheets 1984-2022 presents in Spazio e Immagini studio-gallery in Bologna the entire production of artist's stamps made by Marcello Diotallevi during his now fifty-year research between Visual Poetry and Mail Art.
The exhibition is an ideal prosecution of last year's exhibition dedicated to Diotallevi's artist's postcards and explores, through the minimal form of the postage stamp, a further facet of his offstream poetics developed through the exchanges of Creative Correspondence.
Today the name of Marcello Diotallevi, distinguished by a cross-cutting practice in respect to the Art System and the market, can rightly be counted together with those of Anna Banana, Bill Gaglione, John Held Jr., Chuck Welch (Crackerjack Kid), Vittore Baroni, Ruggero Maggi and others who have made significant contributions to the elusive supranational vanguard of the Eternal Network. In the 23 sheets of artists' stamps on display, played between individual mythology and collective celebrations, the entire poetic universe of Diotallevi takes place, formalized between word and image. It is an exploration to discover the mysterious and intriguing territory of artists' stamps, a place of ideality rather than reality, built under the banner of the practice of creative collaboration and poetry.
