Bologna
SPECIAL OPENING 9-15 MAY 2022
Giulia Niccolai, Martha Rosler, Lucy Orta, Claudia Losiand Claire Fontaine are the protagonists of LIBERO SPAZIO LIBERO, the new exhibition promoted and organized by Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna. The exhibition, curated by Fabiola Naldi, will be open to the public from Saturday, January 15 to Friday, April 15, 2022 at Palazzo Paltroni, via delle Donzelle, 2.
The works on display, some of which have never been seen before in Italy or have been brought back to a new exhibition life, will guide visitors on a journey to discover the relationship between bodies, freedom and space. From Martha Rosler and Giulia Niccolai, two authors so distant from each other but united by the desire to make poetry, performance, art and sound coincide, we arrive at Lucy Orta, Claudia Losi and Claire Fontaine who show how art can be rendered as a space for the debunking of stereotypes. The five artists, of different generations and backgrounds, are presented as free interpreters of a space that initially is purely expositive, but then allows itself to be extended to the needs of each. A different use of words, writing, objects and bodies leads to the reconquest of a subjective, critical and denouncing social space.
