Kipras Dubauskas. Pyrogeny. Crowd and Demons

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the Project Room of MAMbo will host the opening of the first solo exhibition in an Italian museum institution by Kipras Dubauskas (Vilnius, 1988).

The exhibition is part of the Lithuanian Culture in Italy 2025–2026 program, organized by the Lithuanian Cultural Institute and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Italy. It is supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture, made possible through the collaboration of Meno Parkas Gallery, Home Movies – National Family Film Archive, and Canali di Bologna, and has been specifically conceived for the spaces of MAMbo's Project Room.

The exhibition consists of a large installation — an immersive diorama centered around Firestarter (2024, 15’), a 16mm film that the artist began developing in 2021 during a research residency in Bologna, invited by NOS and MAMbo.

The exhibition will be open until Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Special Tour at MAMbo and in the Underground Canals of Reno:

On Thursday, October 16, a special free tour will take place, including a guided visit to the exhibition at 7:00 PM, followed by a tour at 8:30 PM in the underground passages of the Reno Canal. This unique experience will include the presence of the artist and the exhibition’s curators for the museum portion, and will be led by Milena Naldi for Canali di Bologna during the underground segment. The tour aims to offer the public a one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore the hidden layers of the city and challenge conventional perceptions of its spaces.

To access the underground section of the Reno Canal, rubber boots or high waterproof hiking shoes are mandatory, along with a flashlight to be used as needed.

The tour is limited to a maximum of 30 participants, and reservation is required by sending an email to edumuseicivicibologna@comune.bologna.it no later than 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15.
