From 4 February to 19 April 2026 at the Galleria Modernissimo, the exhibition Li ho visti presents a wide selection of original sketches for posters created by the Bolognese artist Stefano Ricci during the first year after the reopening of the Cinema Modernissimo.
On 21 November 2023, after a long restoration project, the Cinema Modernissimo reopened its doors to the public. The historic movie theatre was originally inaugurated in 1915 and closed in 2007.
From that 21 November, every day, throughout the entire first year after reopening, the Bolognese artist Stefano Ricci took paper and colored chalks and drew his own personal poster for the films on the program.
Every day, for a year, audiences entering the theatre were able to admire one of these original posters. A “mad marathon,” as the artist defined it. “I always try to see or rewatch the film; sometimes it is easy and immediate to understand how to turn it into a drawing, other times it is more complex.”
Curated by Andrea Losavio, the exhibition brings together a large selection of works created for the Cinema Modernissimo, around fifty original poster sketches, and several works drawn on fabric.
Stefano Ricci is an internationally renowned artist who, since his early career, has engaged in dialogue with the languages of theatre, dance, cinema, music, and graphic arts. Since 1986 he has collaborated with newspapers, magazines, and publishers in Italy and abroad. In addition to publishing illustrated books, he curates editorial series projects and teaches drawing, comics, and graphic design.
