Starting on 9 June, the International Museum and Library of Music in Bologna will host It's (NOT) Only Rock'n'Roll. Photos by Mark Allan, the first exhibition to present in Italy the work of Mark Allan, one of the leading exponents of music photography.
The Briton has made history as the official photographer of the Barbican Centre in London, one of the most important international spaces for music, theatre and dance.
In his 30-year career, he has portrayed all the great protagonists of international classical and symphonic music, the shots we will see, however, reveal his great passion for rock music.
48 of the most iconic shots taken by the photographer between the 80s and 00s, curated by Pierfrancesco Pacoda.
The protagonists are the most representative names of the new music - from rock to soul, from pop to rap - David Bowie, Grace Jones, Freddie Mercury during the recordings of Live Aid and the concerts of Madonna, Metallica, Paul McCartney, Sex Pistols, Lou Reed, The Rolling Stones, Britney Spears, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, The Who, Amy Winehouse and many others.
