The Municipal Art Collections exhibit 23 paintings that refer to two main themes.
The first concerns the Academy of Fine Arts, the training ground for almost all local artists and promoter of two national art competitions, the Curlandese and the Baruzzi.
The second theme is landscape, with several previously unpublished works: extraordinary landscapes are placed side by side with well-known subjects painted by Luigi Bertelli from the historical collections of MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna. On loan from the Galleria de' Fusari are a Landscape (1840/50) by Ottavio Campedelli and the View of Castel Gandolfo (1810/15) by Giovan Battista Bassi.
In addition to the works on display, the museum's itinerary also includes two large rooms permanently dedicated to Palagi himself, the most important local neoclassical painter, whose international career ended in Turin as an artist at the Savoy court of King Carlo Alberto.
The exhibition is curated by Isabella Stancari.
