The National Gallery of Bologna offers a series of tours or family activities to discover the museum's collections.
- Meeting Art Focus in English | Friday, March 20, 4 PM Repeat Friday, March 27, 4 PM
In March, we will discover the evolution of portraiture in Bologna between the 16th and 18th centuries. From Lavinia Fontana's famous Gozzadini Family, we will move on to Ludovico Carracci's more intimate and informal composition, in which the painter portrays his sister's family. Guido Reni paints his mother, and the face of the great Bolognese artist is captured, in turn, by his pupil Simone Cantarini. Finally, in the 18th century, Giuseppe Maria Crespi distanced himself from official celebratory models
through the casual poses of his figures, united in the spontaneity of their affections and gazes.
