On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Ulisse Aldrovandi, the Specola Museum hosts the installation Monsters, Us, others, self by Cuoghi Corsello. A spatio-temporal tunnel drawn at the centre of the Specola, which spills into the sky like a metaphysical hole towards the unknown, thanks to the juxtaposition of the old red curtains of the large windows opening onto the historic centre of Bologna. Cuoghi Corsello's modus operandi favoured their reuse as an ideal support for the painting of monstrous figures, so dear to Ulisse Aldrovandi.
The monstrosity of the "perhaps non-existent", an investigation of mystery, of the impossible, the creative adventure allows the unknowable, to prefigure what will become possible. The Specola will host a performance in which, to be scrutinised in the red sky of the old 'monstrous' curtains, will be the investigating galleons of the seas, like starships, against time that has obscured everything, within the lacerations of the sun. From Aldrovandi's monsters to Mostrella a bit monster and a bit star, the step is short, but only in appearance.
